There is NO way. So all the bullcrap you hear about marijuana is stronger now than it was 20 years ago is FALSE.
They do a chemical assay.
Simple chemistry that any chemist can do.
Scientists test the amount of THC in the marijuana more than likely through simple testing. If you wanted to know it without smoking it you could feel how sticky it is, the coloration, and how it smells. This site right here, http://legalizeweed.us/, explains a lot of that.

The more potent the strain, usually it has more THC crystals and is more ‘dense’
look at a picture or the strain “White Widow” and it looks like there is snow on the plant, it’s just the THC crystals. White Widow is a really potent strain.
